10 Cubes Challenge 2024, Prompt 1: Tiny Workplace

1

The yearly, most restrictive Blender Artists forum challenge is back! Let the insane restriction of using only 10 cubes (or rather, cuboids) inspire you!

16 Years ago, Sterling wrote:

It seems that blender is losing more and more of its limitations, but sometimes having limitations can push creativity. so let’s take it back a step or two. try modeling an object, any object using just cubes. some ground rules might help to further limit you.

And in those 16 years Blender became much more powerful indeed! But all of that won’t help you in this challenge. You get 10 cubes that you can move and scale any way you like. The ground plane is free.

Before continuing, please read this announcement for the full set of rules.

Prompt 1: Tiny Workspace

The first prompt is Tiny Workspace! The workshop itself could be tiny, or it could be a workshop for tiny things.

Make a smithy for ants! Make a tiny lathe! Make your own topic and post one (or several!) submissions.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. thank you for your contribution to the blossoming of Blender. I studied Max and Maya before landing on Blender. I love Blender and Gumroad where I have a library of addons. May you have many more birthdays and enjoy you twilight days with your family and the many artists you have blessed.
