I know this comment it from 5 years ago and you probaly dont need this anymore but the decimate modifier can help lower lower poly count

It is already there (Subdivisions parameter at top). But right now this plugin uses cycles render time displacement. It does not create any geometry. So not good for games. However, you can bake the heightmap and use it in game engines.
